Data (not a Star Trek character)
When you leave comments on The Brancatelli Blog, we collect the data in the “Comments” form along with your IP address and browser to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravitar service (see Gravitar). After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Erasing Data
You can request that we erase data we collect about you. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. All comments are checked through an automated spam detection service (i.e., Akismet).
How Long We Keep Your Data
When you leave a comment, it and its metadata are held indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve follow-up comments quickly. If you subscribe to The Brancatelli Blog (and we hope you do), we will store your information in a profile. You can see, edit, or delete your information at any time (except username). Blog administrators can also see and edit your information.

When you log in, we set up cookies to save your information and display choices. Login cookies last for two days, screen-option cookies for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will last for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies last for one year. If you reach a login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
