In less than two weeks, The Brancatelli Blog will celebrate its tenth anniversary. It began on July 8, 2014 with “But Can You Type?” and has published posts every Sunday morning since then. The average length of posts over that time has been 750 words, which comes to roughly 400,000 words if you count short, mid-week posts like this one. You can find other shorts under Mittwoch Matinee, Reader Responses, and the Blog Pod. See the drop-down menu, “All Posts,” to the right of this column to select a category from previous years.

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, especially from the beginning, many thanks for your patronage, loyalty, and good humor all this time. You deserve a very cold, Limestone yellow gin martini with South American vermouth, 8 to 1, with a sprig of parsley. Barring that, put your feet up, pour yourself a beer, and watch a ballgame. I include the video below just because I like it. I don’t want you going anywhere.
See you soon.

Rob,
Thanks for 10 years of insight, deft commentary, and good humor – and the jazz clip.
I’m not going anywhere. I was just thinking this morning that, at 75, I have to focus on the things that I enjoy and the things that can make a positive difference in the lives of people close to me.
That pretty much narrows it down to my own writing, family, friends, music (my own jam and blues groups), golf, and my many good friends. I’ll have to hope that others can handle the more complex problems of trade, politics, environment and energy – just for starters!
There are aspects of growing older that unsettle me, but when I look at it this way, things look pretty good! Your blog is a part of this nice picture, and thanks for being so dedicated to it.
Thanks, Vic. You seem pretty busy even without the complex problems. One thing I’ve noticed about retirement, I’m like a kid in a candy store. Ballroom dancing? Oh, yeah. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Of course. Piano lessons? Why not? Already signed up for tap dancing. You know, because I saw it in a brochure…As Jim Carey once said, “Somebody, stop me!”
Congratulations Robert! This is an outstanding achievement that makes our Sunday better! Cheers from your Brazilian connection
Appreciate that, Milton. Obrigado!
